Greetings Friends!

Enjoy a beautiful day out experiencing the Cuyahoga Valley!  We are excited about our educational tour about trains and transportation!

Each new mode of transportation changed the landscape and the lives of those who call the valley home. This interactive program will transport your students to the past to explore how the canal and railroad changed everything.

Hunchback of Notre Dame

Dear Homeschool Friends!

We are hoping you'll join us for the production of the Hunchback of Notre Dame!  We are excited to see The Great Lakes Theater presentation of this classic!  It is a joy to see families throughout the year who join us on our varied field trips and we look forward to sharing this one with you!!!

As the bells of Notre Dame’s cathedral sound in fifteenth-century Paris, Quasimodo - a deformed, captive bell-ringer - observes the city’s Feast of Fools from afar. Escaping his captor Frollo to join the festivities, Quasimodo is rejected by every reveler except the beautiful Gypsy, Esmeralda – with whom he is immediately smitten. However, a handsome Captain and Frollo are equally enthralled by her. As they vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a malevolent mission to destroy the Gypsies and steal her love. It’s up to an unlikely hero to ring true and save the day in this transformative musical celebration of love and acceptance.

Beyond Blessings - Special Needs!!!

Greetings Homeschooling Friends,

Wow, just coming off our "Night to Shine" event (Tim Tebow).  It was so amazing again this year!  Cuyahoga Valley Church was able to accommodate 250 guests and their caregivers/parents.  The night seemed to fly by.  We helped with the special needs meals, each made to the guest's dietary restrictions.  What a blessing to serve along with 600 other volunteers!!!  With that being said, I would like to share a ministry our church has for individuals with Special Needs:

  • Sensory Room
  • LifeGroup for teens and adults
If you know a family with a Special Needs family member and they are looking for a welcoming, accommodating church, please feel free to share with them!

Happy Thanksgiving, Healthy Eating!!!

During our lessons this week, we learned about healthy eating.  Most people are eating more healthy these days, but I am going to share something that many may not have been considered?  Healthy eating is more than what you eat.  Isn't it fun to share a meal with a friend?  When we enjoy a meal with others, we usually eat more slowly and avoid overeating.  There are so many benefits to sharing a meal with others!

When was the last time you invited someone to join your family?  Over a meal so much is shared, food breaks down barriers and draws others closer. Our family considers others with their allergies and dietary restrictions.  Many times guests are surprised and joyful about our consideration of their family.

Doesn't it make our hearts glad when we eat a meal with a friend?  It can be friends we see on a regular basis, but what a blessing it is to invite someone we normally may not consider and take the time to get to know them?  Maybe it is sharing a meal with a widow, orphan or college student away from home?

When the Bible talks about "breaking bread" it is referring to more than just communion.  It also means eating a meal.  God did not intend for us to "gobble" our food down, or eat it on the run to something more important.  Jesus used meals to teach and build relationships.  We rejoice in building relationships with others and food is a wonderful instrument!

"Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you I will not drink again of this fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.”  Matthew 26:26-29

I encourage you to invite someone new to a meal and let me know how the conversation and fellowship was :)  Maybe it is a neighbor, another homeschool family, a work acquaintance?  I enjoy a good story and seeing people make new friendships!!!

"And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts,"  Acts 2:46
