The special camp was for special needs. Just amazing!!!
1. The number of of volunteers under the age of 25! He stated how so many churches have older members running the VBS or Sports Camps.
2. The enthusiasm!!!! Yeah, I agree wholeheartedly :) Denise Petek who is in charge of our Children's Ministry and runs the Sports Camp (with her team) every year. She gives and gives and gives….(I think she must have a cot at the church?) She is there so many hours, setting up, ensuring everyone and everything is in place, that we have trained volunteers and super awesome meals for the volunteers (lunch/dinner).
This year we added a Special Needs Camp!!! We did a theme of "sports camping" and this photo demonstrates it (pose). We "sports camped" in our orthodontists' office :)
3. Wednesday night it rained, so for how ever many Sports Campers we had (500-600?), she had an alternative rain game plan. Mr. Kwok was amazed (me too) how smoothly everything ran. You never would have known God's plan had rain for us? The kids were brought inside, sports were regrouped and continued….
Mr. Kwok ended up giving us $1,000 to support our camp and said how he would like to replicate our camp at other churches in Ohio! How about that for affirmation????? Thank you God, we give you all the glory!
Please know he visits churches all over OHIO!!!!
It was amazing, we had a friend join us, he attended the Dads' Camp and after Day 1, Denise recruited him as a volunteer :) God was working the whole week!!! So many children made decisions FOR Christ. God provided affirmations to volunteers who wondered if the decisions were true, based on the child's age, etc. The stories just kept on coming and were amazing! There was a table of children in Art (14 kids) that ALL chose JESUS!!!
The only way to know if you are really missing out on something is to be there! The week is as good as or better then Christmas…no stress :) just blessings and love. To share Jesus with others is the best gift of all! Join us and Sports Camp with us in 2015!!!!
