Transition to Fall - Comfort & Love

We had friends over this past week.  Some brought watermelon and we served hot spiced cider.  It seemed to be the turning point of the season.  Some of the last of the watermelon and the first hot cider.  And it was….the first bonfire of the season with roasted marshmallows!!!!  Fall is definitely in the air, and it really feels like sweater/jacket weather is here to stay.  Praying for Indian Summer.  So we look to those things that comfort us on the cool mornings and evenings, switching from cool, refreshing iced tea to comforting, hot tea.  Coffee is always brewing as well, if you would like to stop by.  There is just something about hot beverages when the temps dip below sixty.  They also beg for something sweet to be dunked.  Biscotti with high quality coffee!!!  These are the times when it is nice to have friends around a fire catching up on their lives.

It is time to get the sweaters and blankets out to stay warm and cozy.  So then that brings us to warming us up from the inside out.  When the cool weather sets in we enjoy comfort foods!  What do we enjoy making?

Butternut squash soup recipe1.  Butternut Squash Soup

2.  Lasagna (homemade)

3.  Cheeseburger Pasta!  So easy to make and soooo YUMMY!!!

4.  Crock Pot Roasts (beef or pork)

5.  Chili (beef or white chili with chicken)

6.  Cabbage and Noodles, again such an easy dish, but warming and satisfying and to use the zucchini squash from the summer - double chocolate zucchini bread - yes!

7.  Oatmeal

What are some of your favorites??

Of course when it really begins getting cold, Hot Chocolate with marshmallows or whipped cream!!!

"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."  John 14:6
