Passing along some great information :) I know many of you enjoy outreach and blessing others as we do. It seems each year a dear friend reminds me about Piano-a-thon just before her boys are performing and then I forget until the following year. I shared this opportunity with some of you and the response was incredible so I thought I would post for all. Thank you so much to those who contacted me, it was wonderful to hear all who already participate in this event and those that are hoping to next year!!
The lady who organizes Piano-a-thon told me that it began as a one day event and has GROWN to a full week with so many willing to share their time and talents!!! With Piano-a-thon lasting a week, there are many time slots she needs to fill and working with the piano teachers makes her job that much easier, I LOVE her heart!!! She had offered a few time slots we could have slid into, but timing was not right. Praying we will be able to participate next year?
Piano-a-thon is held at the Akron Children's hospital; Steinway brings in a grand piano for the students to perform on. If your students have not performed on a Steinway, all I can say is it is the difference between good soil and clay?

This wonderful program supports "the John C. & Elaine Thompson Piano- a-thon Endowment for Music Therapy. Music therapy is an integral part of the Expressive Therapy Center that is part of the Palliative Care Program. The program is under the direction of Dr. Sarah Friebert, with Sarah Gaither as the Music Therapy Coordinator. Music is such a healing tool for all ages, even NICU babies, and they do a remarkable job. We hope to allow them to do even more. We could not have asked for a more appropriate and deserving recipient."
What a blessing to help the least of His through our children's love of music!!! We know many people who work at Akron Children's Hospital and the work they do is incredible. If you think your piano teacher would be interested in this fundraiser, please have them put this on their calendar for next year!!!
The lady who runs the event, said it is very much like a recital only a little more casual. Of course doctors, nurses and patients would be passing through and stopping to listen, but they also set up chairs for people to sit and enjoy, which is what music is meant for us to do. Stop and listen with our hearts and minds.
To us, music is to be shared with others and so we would like to encourage you to consider for next year!!! Keep being a blessing friends, we love YOU :)
