Born from a talking piece of wood carved by the old Gepetto, the rebellious, cheeky and careless puppet Pinocchio discovers the meaning of growing up through a thousand trials. To become a real boy, he will have to face Mangiafuoco, the terrible Puppet Master, suffer the malice of Mr. Fox and his sidekick the Cat, escape from Toyland and save his father from the belly of the giant fish.

Gardens Galore, Art and More!

Geauga County Master Gardener's 5th Annual Scholarship Benefit, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 10 am - 4 pm at Century Village, 14653 E Park St, Burton, OH 44021
The annual Master Gardeners’ scholarship event will be held Wednesday, June 19.  There are no garden tours this year, but the Gardeners have plenty to offer in their stead.  Burton’s centrally located historic Century Village, off of the town circle, will be the site of what has become the traditional plant sale with garden art, attic treasures and refreshments.  The welcoming, helpful, friendly  atmosphere of last year’s event will be repeated here from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.  Plan on staying for a few hours or plan your whole day around this event.
Gardens Galore, Art and More!
The huge plant sale will rival last year’s 1000+ plant offering with long standing favorites as well as the new and exotic.  Look for perennials, annuals, houseplants, trees, shrubs, tropicals, vegetables and herbs.  The prices for these healthy home grown plants can’t be beat.  Growing advice will be right at hand from knowledgeable Master Gardeners eager to help.

This is a fun event with much to offer.  The Garden Art and Attic Treasures, which were a pleasant surprise to many visitors last year, will be expanded with many new and fresh fun pieces, mostly one of a kind.  You’re bound to find something you just have to have for your garden or home as there will be something for every taste, from whimsical repurposed pieces, to vases, garden stools, glass art, hand painted chairs, fairy gardens, wall pieces and fountains.  Not to be left out, our tool sharpener friend will return to hone your knives, scissors, pruners, hedge clippers and shovels for modest prices as little as $5 - $12.  Personal checks and cash will be appreciated for all purchases at this event.  Refreshments, however --wonderful desserts-- will be free, as will gardening related presentations on bugs, soil testing, composting, phenology and origami.  Hear about the advantages of raised beds and lasagna gardening.  Watch a furniture maker have his way with willow, view a weaver at work and discover the wonders of quilting.  Given the site, an extra bonus this year will be free tours of Century Village, led by the Historical Society’s docents.

Profits from the Scholarship Benefit support horticulture and agriculture education.
