Review & GIVEAWAY!!!

Dear Homeschoolers!

I am happy to announce our first review and giveaway, how exciting!!!!  I am really jazzed about this offer!!!!!

We LOVE art and music.  This educational website and giveaway is perfect for any family who enjoys classical art and music or is part of Classical Conversations!

There is so much wonderful information offered, from biographies and videos to educational games.  We began studying the artists in February and have only completed two artists.  There was just so much information presented for Leonardo da Vinci that it took us a couple weeks to go through.  Please see below for links to their collections, freebies, homepage and more!!!!  Enjoy browsing :)

The collection I choose to review was the Great Artists, Collection 1.  Here is the link to view all of their collections:

I generally do not purchase online subscriptions, but this has so much value!  The kids REALLY, REALLY LOVED the artists they learned about already!!!!!

See what people are saying about Classical Composers Monthly:

The subscriptions are for a lifetime, so you may go back and review and use with your other children when they are ready!  We will need to continue these artists next year, so even one artist per month we will not get through all!!!!

Interested in getting started NOW?   Please visit their website and use the coupon code SPRINGY and receive 20% off your purchase until May 10, 2014.

**  To be eligible for the giveaway, please respond at the bottom of the post under comments.   The winner will be selected, notified and posted on May 21, 2014.  The winner will be able to select any collection they choose!!!  Any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you and best wishes :)

Portfolio Reviews/Assessors

Hi All!

Just in case you are NEW to homeschooling, here are some pertinent details:

At the end of the school year, homeschoolers need to have a portfolio review completed by an assessor or a testing.  We prefer portfolio reviews.  Assessors want to see your student(s)' work from the beginning of the year, mid and at the end of the year.  This can include:

lists of books read
art work
photos from field trips
etc…anything that would help the assessor evaluate your student's work.

They are usually pretty easy going and just want to see progress in their learning and skills.  They will complete and sign a paper stating that the student is ready to move to the next grade, usually satisfactory.  Nothing against the student, but with the school systems, that is all they really need to know is that they passed.  You will then send this paper along with your intent to homeschool for the following year (2014-2015) together to your school's superintendent :)

I hope this helps?  If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at or (330) 630-3837.  Thank you!

Walking in Their Moccasins

Please join us for this great outdoor class/workshop learning about the Whittlesey American Indians!!!

Walking in Their Moccasins: A rare opportunity for students to learn about the Native Americans of the Lake Erie shoreline, the Whittlesey Focus. Students
will learn about the first residents that lived in Lake County before settlers arrived from the East. Students will compare artifacts found at local digs to learn about major histori- cal time periods and participate in an archaeological dig. Outdoors is our replica Whittle- sey Focus Village. Students will examine construction of wigwams and long houses. They will make clay pots using Lake Erie clay, grind corn, plant a garden and make an arrowhead necklace. They will also have an opportunity to see how the primitive people used the technology of the “atlatl” to improve their spear throwing technique.
